Ryan has been copy manager for MetaMed Marketing since 2014, and wrote for the company's various clients for a few years prior to that. Before venturing into the world of marketing, he was a journalist for two decades, serving as the executive editor of two weekly newspapers on California's Central Coast.
He graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, with a journalism degree in 2001. Since then, he has written everything from local politics stories to camping tips to play reviews to car care guides. He is well versed in articles, essays, press releases, blog posts, and just about anything made of words. He maintains a personal blog about fatherhood (standingintheshallows.com) to which he rarely posts any more, and wrote a children's picture book, How to Feed Your Parents, with an Aug. 7, 2018, release from Sterling Children's Publishing.
Ryan has been married for more than a decade, and has three young children: two daughters and a son. They all live in Northern California with a small flock of chickens and a lot of books. In his scant spare time, he enjoys reading, writing, camping, and playing board games.
